HEH CIVIL NEWS
BUILDHER: Her Future, Her Career. A Collaborative Day of Celebrating Female Talent in Construction.
On 23 August 2024, HEH Civil was pleased to attend the first-ever Construction Skills Queensland – CSQ BUILDHER event by Major Training Group RTO 6139 in Cairns to provide insight into the civil construction industry. This event was dedicated to empowering young women to explore careers in construction and related industries.
The success of BUILDHER day was built on the efforts of many dedicated individuals and organizations who came together to make this event a reality. Whether by delivering engaging activities, providing essential resources, or offering their expertise, their contributions laid the foundation for a truly unforgettable experience for the students.
HEH Civil Survey Manager, Scott Collingwood ran interactive classes in Surveying for year 10 and 11 female students from Gordonvale SHS, Smithfield SHS, Redlynch College and Cairns SHS.
The students learnt how to measure the classroom using the Total Station, enter the measurements for design on the computer and find the centre of the classroom with the Prism Pole.
The event was a great day, and the girls had a fun and engaging day participating across various trades in the construction industry.
