Noah’s Range Slip Stabilisation – Project Update
In December 2023, ex Cyclone Jasper caused heavy rainfall and a major slope failure on Noah’s Range along the Cape Tribulation–Bloomfield Road. HEH Civil, in partnership with Redfox Consultancy, secured the stabilisation project under Douglas Shire Council.
Scope of Works
- Design & Construct rehabilitation of the failed slope, incorporating geotechnical treatments.
- Soil nailing – supply, drill and install soil nail systems to stabilise the slip face.
- Concrete FRP works (fibre reinforced polymer concrete) for structural strengthening.
- Gabion baskets – supply and install gabion systems for erosion control and structural support.
- Road furniture upgrades, including new guardrails.
- Gravel re sheeting on affected road sections.
- Stormwater supply & installation, improving drainage and resilience across the stabilised zone.
Special Site Conditions
- Extremely limited access and steep drop offs alongside the work area.
- Slope stabilisation treatments up to 60 metres above the roadway, requiring specialist rope access and safety controls.
